Routine Dental Care

Examinations
Exams at Traska Family Dental are complete visual inspections of the oral cavity along with any necessary x-rays. Included in all examinations are screenings for cavities, oral cancer, periodontal disease, and TMJ problems.
Digital X-rays
Sometimes a cavity may be hidden by other teeth or too small for the human eye to see. Digital X-rays are taken and inspected as a secondary measure to ensure all possible cavities are found so they can be properly treated. Digital X-rays have 30% less radiation than standard X-rays and produce better images for inspection.
Preventative Care (oral prophylaxis)
Cleaning is a preventative procedure that is important to have done at least every 6 months. We recommend both children and adults have this done regularly.
Sealants
A sealant is a resin material that is applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth. This preventative measure seals out plaque and food from the grooves and pits in teeth that are prime targets for decay.

Orthodontics

Child & Adult
Orthodontics treats improperly positioned teeth using braces and other appliances to apply gentle pressure to move teeth into the desired position. Orthodontics can help straighten teeth, bring your bite into alignment and improve both function and appearance of your teeth. Invisalign is a new orthodontic technology we have implemented at Traska Family Dental. Invisalign gradually moves your teeth through a series of custom-made, removable, nearly invisible Aligners.

Restorative Dentistry

Fillings
Fillings are a way of treating minor cavities where the decay (cavity) is removed and then the void filled in with a tooth colored filling. This procedure is a good way of correcting a small problem before it becomes a bigger, more expensive problem.
Crowns
Crowns are basically a cover placed over a weakened or decayed tooth. They are most often necessary when a tooth has large fillings that have deteriorated. Crowns are made out of porcelain and strengthen and protect your teeth as well as enhance your smile. Our Cerec device is now used to create custom crowns in-house. This means:
  • No temporaries
  • No impressions
Just one-visit permanent crowns!
Bridges
When single or multiple teeth are missing, bridges can be used to replace the missing teeth.
Dentures and Partials
When too many teeth are missing to be restored by bridgework, dentures and partials offer a good solution. We also can make flexible partials that have NO METAL!!!
Periodontal Therapy
We will customize your periodontal needs for your mouth. At Traska Family Dental we use Perio Protect for your periodontal needs. Do I need ARESTIN®? TMJ Treatment
TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) is a term that refers to inflammation of the temporomandibular joint which connects the lower jaw to the skull.
Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy)
If a tooth is damaged by decay or injury, the canals inside the root of the tooth can become infected. Years ago, extraction was the only option but today, through endodontics, these teeth can be saved and be restored to normal function. Root canal therapy is one of the most successful off all dental procedures.
Extractions
Extractions are when a tooth is removed from the mouth. This is done for many reasons including, but not limited to: Preparing for braces, insufficient space for wisdom teeth, severe tooth decay or infections.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Home Whitening Kits
These kits include custom made whitening trays, 6 syringes of whitening solution and instructions. This process might take multiple treatments whereas a dentist-supervised treatment might take only one to reach the same results.
Zoom!
Zoom! is a whitening process that lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin. This process is done in-house at Traska Family Dental and is performed by one of our team members. The procedure takes about 1 hour total.
Direct Bonding
Bonding is an option for chipped or cracked teeth where tooth-like material is applied to the tooth, sculpted into shape, hardened and then polished.
Enamel Colored Fillings
Fillings that have been done in the past with a silver color can be removed and replaced with tooth colored fillings for a better appearance. Appearance is not the only reason to have the tooth colored fillings done! The teeth colored fillings are stronger and bond to your natural tooth.
Porcelain Crowns
Crowns that have been used in the past and made out of a silver or gold color material can be removed and replaced with a tooth colored porcelain crown for better appearance.
Bridges
A bridge is a prosthesis used to replace missing teeth when only a few are missing.
Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are basically covers for existing teeth. These can be used to close gaps between teeth or on teeth that don’t respond well to whitening.
Full Smile Reconstruction
By having a consultation with one of the dentists at Traska Family Dental, we can properly recommend a certain cosmetic procedure or a combination of them to do a full smile reconstruction if necessary.
Dental Implants
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root replacement and is used in prosthetic dentistry to support restorations that resemble a tooth or group of teeth.
Custom Sports Mouthguards
Dentist-fitted custom mouthguards are recommended for all contact and collision sports. Store bought mouthguards displace a lot of the material needed to properly protect the teeth and are not as comfortable as custom fitted ones. Custom Sports Mouthguards make talking and breathing easier.
